DisneyLive! Three Classic Fairy Tales

DisneyLive2Last week we were invited by The Moms Network to check out the new DisneyLive! Show Three Classic Fairy Tales at Madison Square Garden. I really didn’t know what to expect because well it’s a show. I also didn’t know how the boys would enjoy a show about princesses. We risked it anyways.

The Moms set up a super cute and fun event before the show where the kids enjoyed balloons, face painting, arts and crafts and best of all they got to take pictures with the three princesses from the show! Cinderella, Snow White and Belle where all present. For the parents we got to enjoy yummy food but also had a little Q&A with the director of the show Alana Feld. I had the opportunity to ask her how we can make the show more appealing to boys and she said that the show wasn’t just the princesses. Mickey, Goofy, Donald, the 7 Dwarfs, Gaston, and Beast were all in the show. So then it was time for the show!

We got a box of popcorn and were ready. The show starts with Goofy being Goofy and then Donald, Minnie and Mickey join him. They start reading the magic book which revealed the story of Snow White. I loved the story telling and the acting, my only one issue here was that the wish making her potion was a bit dark so my 3-year-old was a tad scared.

We got the chance to meet the Witch, the Mirror, the Prince, and the 7 Dwarfs. After Snow White story was complete it was time for Cinderella. The Cinderella story was my favorite because it the step sisters were wicked actors! They were really REALLY amazing. During the Cinderella story there is an intermission. During Cinderella we get to see the whole cast, the Prince, the sisters, the stepmother, the mice, and the fairy godmother.

The last story was that of Beauty and the Beast. This story had the best music, in my opinion. Be our Guest was AMAZING. We see how Belle went to rescue her dad and end up with the Beast and how they fell in love. Gaston’s music number is also pretty cool and to me this was the closets story to the movie.

I have to point out that this show is really a Broadway show. The costumes are perfect, the acting is incredible and the movie is really good. My only ONLY observation if I had to pick one is that the actors where just acting over a voice track. I wish they would do the whole thing live and actually do the dialogue. After the stories are complete Mickey, Minnie, Goofy and Donald come back on stage with all the princesses and have a ball with all the cast.

I recommend this show 100%. My boys LOVED it and so did the baby. Like I mentioned before be weary during Snow White if you have a little one scared of the dark. Otherwise the show is tons of fun, true to the real story and a great introduction for the kids to enjoy Broadway and the performing arts.
