Better sleep with Johnson’s® Tonight We Sleep™ Challenge

In our family sleep deprivation is a serious problem. In part due to shift work and lack or routine. I was exited to try the Johnson’s Bedtime App. This app has tons of resources to help me set a better routine. I started the challenge on March 27. I wanted to see if the steps really made a difference. Especially since I was going to be alone with the kids for a week. The Johnson’s® 3-Step BEDTIME® Routine consists of a bath, a massage and quiet time. I was very surprised to see that massage was so important and would have such an impact on my children’s sleep.

I downloaded the app and was super surprised to see how many features the app has. The kids loved the lullaby, but what I liked was the sleep analysis and the sleep log. I find it interesting how different my kids are and how differently they sleep, even though we follow the same steps. I did alter some steps this week for my second child who is the most difficult to sleep. I found that the Tonight We Sleep™ Lullaby selection is awesome. The kids really enjoyed listening during quiet time.

Tonight We Sleep

With my oldest, our routine is simple and he falls asleep pretty quickly. The first thing we always do is use the potty, brush teach and then jump in the shower (I usually only do showers because it’s quicker to get all the kids ready). After the shower I let them play for a little bit or watch tv. After that I turn the lights off and put the nightlight one and its quiet time. My oldest likes to read and my two little ones like to cuddle. After this routine, my oldest is out within 15 minutes of me turning the lights of, but my second one is UP until like 11 pm (we start our routine between 7pm and 7:30).

Tonight We Sleep

I knew they had different sleep patterns but the app really put it in perspective. Seeing how Gavin has a Sleepscore of 85/100 and Glenn has a 58/100 is impactful. So I started to give him a leg massage after the bath. I found that giving him the massage definitely calms him more and it’s easier for him to fall asleep. I never realized how big of an effect the massage can have on the child. Especially because they are still developing and get growing pains. He also enjoys it so it’s working for both of us. The biggest change I’ve seen in the 7 days it’s been his decreased the amount of time he wakes up in the middle of the night, which in my book is HUGE.

Tonight We SleepSleep is so important. I know we have to work more on getting better sleep patterns but thankfully now I have an idea and some help to mend the situation, especially since my second will start school in the fall and sleep will be even more important. Using the Johnson’s® 3-Step Bedtime® Routine and including a massage has been very beneficial for us. And the Tonight We Sleep™ Lullaby feature on the app has made a world of difference.
