Baby Gear: 3 THINGS TO CONSIDER

When deciding on what stroller, crib, car seat or carrier to buy there are a lot of things we consider. Some people consider price, other consider comfort, some consider longevity. As part of a Periscope challenge, I was asked what 3 pieces of advice i would give anyone. It was a hard decision but I decided to pick the 3 things to consider when buying baby gear.

Carseats

  1. Weight and height limits: Weight and height are important and should be the first thing you look at when buying gear. Why is it important? Weight and height both can affect the performance of the gear, as well as void warranties. Also they can save you money. For example, if you buy a stroller that has a weight limit of 30 pounds, then you might need a new stroller before your little ones first birthday. The same with car seats. A lot of new parents, including myself, spend money on an infant car seat. Because they are convenient and can be used as a travel system, letting kids sleep longer and making trips easier. BUT, the truth is infant carriers have a weight limit of 22 to 30lbs, which again can mean you probably will need a new car seat before their first birthday. My advice is for a car seat, get a convertible from the get-go. Consider recommendations from the American Academy of Pediatrics on rear facing up to 2 years and longer. Make a good investment from the beginning. Spend a little more on a good convertible with a high weight limit and height capacity for harness. At the end it will save you tons of money and most importantly you won’t compromise safety. This is also important when choosing baby carriers. Most have a weight limit for safety reasons as well as the height on the back panel.
  2. Longevity: This is more important with strollers as they are used more continuously. Some people think that spending more than $500 is a lot of money for a stroller, but the reality is a lot of strollers in a higher price range often rate higher on performance and quality. Meaning they work better for a longer time. An example: the Bugaboo. When the Bugaboo was at its highest, it was one of the most expensive strollers in the market. Owners swear by the quality of the stroller. And guess what? Bugaboos from as far as 2005 are still being sold the price of a brand new stroller. Because they outlast their owners. So in the end this is a great investment, not so much just another purchase. The same goes for baby carriers. Some carriers are valued at over $300 because they are hand-made and their quality exceeds the standard.
  3. Practicality: Here’s the deal, sometimes just because it looks good doesn’t mean it’ll work good. You have to consider your lifestyle. If you are a walker and spend a lot of time with the stroller, you need something with a big basket to lug things around. If you take the subway or any public transportation you need something that can fold quickly and can be carried. If you drive a Smart Car it’s probably not wise to buy a Bugaboo Donkey, because most likely it won’t fit (unless you take the whole thing apart, and in reality, who has time for that?). You have to think about how easy it is to fold, for me with 3 kids running around, fold was super important. When it comes to car seats, size of the seat is super important when thinking about practicality. I need to be able to fit 3 cars seats in a row so it’s important to be mindful of that.
  4. It is important to choose the right foods you cialis professional eat affect your body crucially. The same can be said for cheap levitra uk‘s cousins: levitra. Thus, anything that affects the smooth functioning of these parts can lead to ED. viagra 20mg in india Testosterone replacement refers to the replacement of 50mg generic viagra the hormones.

I hope these tips help. There are so many choices today. The amount of strollers in the market is beyond INSANE as well as the amount of car seats. It’s also hard to mute the noises around us like friends and the store advertising. Just keep in mind, you have to choose the things that work for your lifestyle, but you also want to keep your baby safe and your wallet full.
