Sesame Place- A place to celebrate!

Thank you to Sesame Place for sponsoring this post.

SesamePlace4I love thrill rides. So for my birthday I wanted to do an amusement park. Because I’m not one to keep the kids away from any celebration, I wanted a place that was kid friendly but also fun for me. I also like to check out places we’ve never been, and then it hit me! Sesame Place is the perfect spot. It’s close enough to NYC that we can make it an overnight trip and maximize our time at the park. We drove the night before and stayed at a close by hotel. We arrived at the park around 9:55 am just in time to hear the National Anthem play before the doors opened. I was very surprised of the long lines for 10am on a weekday, but even though we waited quite sometime the greeter was very friendly. Right away we took pictures with the giant cake celebrating the 35th birthday of Sesame Street! We let the kids direct our day, as none of us had been at the park before. They wanted to do the roller coaster and so we went. There wasn’t a line, which was great! And the ride was the perfect start. We headed to Cookie’s Monster land, where the kids spend almost the whole morning on the Monster Clubhouse. There are other rides that are perfectly appropriate for little ones like Oscar’s Rotten Rusty Rockets. My 18 month old LOVED this ride! While daddy was with them in the Clubhouse I went of the Honker Dinger Derby by myself. This was sooooooooo much fun! It was exactly what I needed and not what I expected at all. We didn’t really get any lines by this point.SesamePlace5SesamePlace8SesamePlace6We headed to lunch and checked out Elmo’s Land. Where my son went on the swings and the slide plenty of time. We did almost all the rides and decided to do one of the shows. We did Elmo the Musical! It was tons of fun and although one of the kids passed out the other 2 enjoyed it a lot. In all honestly I was trying to avoid the water park at all costs but the kids insisted, so to the water park side we went. It was nice to find some seats and the weather definitely called for water fun. My oldest loved all the slides and keep going, the lines where moving super quickly so no one got tired of waiting in line, which was a real plus. I went on the lazy river, while the kids played in the sand with dad. If there is one thing I wish they had more changing rooms. Not just bathrooms but dry rooms where we could change the kids.SesamePlace2We were at the park from opening until about 7pm. It was very nice. The park is small enough that you can see it all in one day, but has enough attractions to keep everyone entertained. Right now, they have an offer where you can go for a second day just for $10, that’s a pretty good deal. I was very excited for this visit and the fun didn’t disappoint. I wish the food was better, as it was a little pricey, but other than that is really a fun time for the family. Even more so if you have any Sesame Street fans. I like that it’s close enough to NYC to make it a day trip and I do like the combination of water park- theme park. When we got there my husband said how this would be our only visit to the park- by the end of the day we were planning our next visit.SesamePlace1
