Dentist Visit!

Dentist visit coming up?

Today I went for my semi annual dentist visit. I asked her to share some tips when bringing young kids to the dentist. I’ve always enjoyed the going to the “teeth doctor” but I know that is not the case with a lot of people. Here are her tips:

-Bring them in as SOON as they get their first tooth. They don’t have to get a checkup, but they will get used to the environment, meet the dentist, and see mom & daddy get their teeth clean. Is never to early to start educating them on healthy oral habits. Most doctors will actually recommend doing this and will check the teeth.

-BRUSH, BRUSH, BRUSH. Use a tiny bit of fluoride. If the kid won’t let you brush their teeth, try letting them do it themselves. Let them play with the toothbrush and toothpaste. If they start thinking it’s fun and doing it themselves, it’ll benefit them later on.

-Don’t wait until you see something to take them in. Take them to the dentist every 6 months after teeth come out. Regular checkups are so necessary for oral health and overall health. Once you see the problem, it might mean the problem is to big for a quick fix.

-Remember kids feed of what they see. If you act scared and say you don’t like the dentist, they will most likely imitate and repeat. So try to make the visit fun and enjoyable for everyone!

Here is the site for my dentist. If you are in Queens check her out! She’s awesome…
