LEGOLAND Discovery Center-Westchester

We recently visited in the LEGOLAND Discovery Center in New York. And I cannot wait to go back. The Discovery Center has everything for every Lego fan in the family, from the little ones to the mom and dads. We went on a Friday around noon- can you believe we were there for 6 hours!! Yes, that’s how much we ALL liked it.

When you enter the space, you get your tickets and have ton of picture ops. Then you go in a green room where you are directed where to go next. When you enter the following room, the kids go through the process of making a Lego. When they are done, they receive a complimentary Lego.

The next room is a city landscape. It’s NYC made entirely of Legos. I loved how they recreated all the NYC scenes including a baseball Subway Series. There’s even a spot where you can see yourself on Times Square billboard. You keep going and find the first attraction. This is a laser game, where everyone in the car has to shoot the bad guys. It is also a competition of the people in the car. I never win any of these! I should mention that my 3yr old was petrified of this attraction. It is VERY dark for little ones, so if they are afraid of the dark is best to skip it (don’t worry, there are plenty of other attractions that they will like!).

The first thing you see in the main space, is a gigantic jungle gym, with a Lego pool! The jungle gym acts as the centering attraction of the center. To the right you can find a race track area. My boys spent half the day building their own cars and racing each other.

They offer Master Builder classes, as well! You can just walk in, but make sure you prepare with enough time. The area for the little kids is awesome it has a different areas where they can play including a slide. My only complain is that I wish this area was gated, so the kids don’t run away! Another area is the “house” area. This was my favorite! It was like a house and it has a kitchen, garden, living room. The living room even has a karaoke machine! The Merlin’s Apprentice Ride is so much fun, you have to pedal to go up. The Center also has a movie theater and they play 3D movies, they are always different and play every 15 minutes.

You can celebrate birthdays at this Discovery Center and also have snacks. They have private rooms where birthday guest can celebrate. The food court has everything from chips to sandwiches. They are getting ready to open a new attraction soon. When you exit you land at a Lego store so be ready to spend some $$ if you have little ones.

Tickets run about $17.50 for kids and $19 for adults when you get the tickets online. They have great hours, opened until 9:30pm on most nights. Remember how I told you they have something for everyone? They have adult only nights! Check out the website for more information.
