Coney Island FUN for the whole family

ConeyIsland1

There are tons of places in NYC to have an incredible summer, but there is no place like Coney Island. It’s an iconic landmark as well as a popular destination for every New Yorker. Coney Island is not just beach, boardwalk and Nathan’s is also Luna Park and Deno’s Wonder Wheel Amusement Park. Is also the home of the Brooklyn Cyclones, the minor league team for the NY Mets.

There is something to do for everyone. We were lucky to spend a day in May as guest of the Alliance for Coney Island and it was tons of fun. We first learned about all the new promotions they have coming up this summer like Luna Park rewarding good grades, as well as $5 tickets for Cyclone baseball games.

We headed straight to Luna Park after breakfast, trying one of their new rides the rockin’ little tug boat. This ride was a lot of fun for everyone, although my 3 yr didn’t like it because it went to “fast” for his liking. After that ride we went on every ride that was appropriate for their height. It’s really cool because they do have very old school carnival rides and they have new rides. The grounds are very well-kept as are the rides, so I felt super comfortable letting them enjoy. After checking out Luna Park, we went to Deno’s Wonder Wheel Amusement Park, where they have a whole section of the park for little kids. They also house the Wonder Wheel, which is the oldest ferris wheel in America.

Many rides later, we were hungry, and if you’re in Coney Island- you NEED to have Nathan’s hot dogs. We sat on the boardwalk with a lovely view of the beach and had lunch, scared pigeons away and just enjoyed the time together. Don’t forget to grab a beautiful cut up mango from one of the local vendors. Oh and tip: if you are having Nathan’s, which you totally should, make sure you head over there with time because the lines can get pretty long.

After lunch, we couldn’t leave without checking out the New York Aquarium. The Aquarium is still going through renovations since the Sandy storm, but they still have the sea-lion show, sharks, penguins and a pretty good amount of fish!
